So You're Asking "What Is Health Coaching?"

At some point, you (and all of us!) probably received good advice, maybe even from a doctor or a trusted friend - but weren't able to follow it. It was a great idea, maybe a diet or exercise tip, and you had great intentions, but just couldn't stick with it.  Have you ever wanted something in your life, but found you couldn’t achieve it alone?

As your Integrative Health Coach, I listen carefully and provide ongoing support and guidance as you set goals and make sustainable, lifelong changes.  Together, we create a personalized program that will radically improve your health and happiness. 


A Holistic Approach

I practice a holistic approach to health and wellness.  That means that I look at how all areas of your life are connected. Does stress at your job or in your relationship cause you to overeat? Does lack of sleep or low energy prevent you from exercising? As we work together, we look at how all parts of your life affect your health as a whole. It’s not just the food we eat, but all of the other aspects in our daily lives. Healthy relationships, a fulfilling career, regular physical activity and a spiritual awareness are essential forms of nourishment. When these “primary foods” are balanced, what you eat becomes secondary. I support you in achieving all of your goals, from eating the right foods for your body to living an inspired, fulfilling life.

Karen helped me to realize how all aspects of my life impacted my health. We talked a great deal about how nutrition was not an isolated part of health, but was greatly influenced by all other aspects of my lifestyle. We examined how events and circumstances in my life and aspects of my lifestyle impacted my feelings and my choices.

My approach is not to dwell on calories, carbs, fats, and proteins. It is not to create lists of restrictions, or good and bad foods. I help you navigate the world of contradictory nutrition advice to determine what is right for you. I work with the concept of bio-individuality - that each person has unique food and lifestyle needs. 

Together we’ll work to reach your health goals in areas such as achieving optimal weight, reducing food cravings, increasing sleep, and maximizing energy. As we work together, you’ll develop a deeper understanding of the food and lifestyle choices that work best for you and implement lasting changes that will improve your energy, balance and health.

  • Personalized Menus – with foods that fit your preferences, not the latest fad (Diet is truly a 4-letter word!)

  • Adding Movement – Exercise does not have to be strenuous; we’ll find ways to make it part of your day

  • Identifying Sabotaging Triggers – you know what I mean!  All those things that cause you to stress-eat, skip yoga class, not go to the gym, cancel lunch with a friend or all of those

  • Self-Care – Yes, YOU do matter and the only person who is going to take care of you is you.  We’ll explore options to find what works for you
